NY, LA and Miami
New York, LA/Vegas and Miami are on everybodys bucket list as these are the places we always see on TV. So for my first trip to the USA we decided to do all of them in one trip. Crossing East Coast to West Coast USA and then back again to Miami might not have been the best idea. Must admit to total jet lag on arrival at NY from Bahrain. But absolutely loved NY. We stayed at the Lower East Side Sixty Hotel which had modern décor and a pool! Great area for wandering to coffee shops and restaurants. Did the usual tourist jaunts, visiting the Statue of Liberty, up the Empire State, Times Square and a Sex and the City Tour. Loved the meat packing district and had an amazing meal and prosecco in a restaurant next to the Highline which led to a club and a great night out! My highlight of NYC was going to the Electric Zoo festival on Randall Island on Labor Day which was just brilliant!
After NY we headed to LA and Hollywood and stayed in the Roosevelt Hotel on the Walk of Fame. Hotel was lovely with a pool and in a great location. However, wasn't overly keen on Hollywierd, the walk just seemed to be full of homeless people aggressively begging and terrorizing everyone. Went to Venice Beach for a wander which was more fun. I loved all the graffiti there and the boutique shops were good, much better vibe.
After our LA experience, flew to Vegas to stay at Planet Hollywood which is in a good spot in the middle of the strip. Went on an amazing Grand Canyon helicopter ride which was fun and also tried out a Wolfgang Puck restaurant and Nobu. Spent one night gambling in the Luxor and then found a cool club to party in. For our friends birthday we bought her tickets to watch male strippers - well what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!
From LA we headed to Miami and stayed at the Breakwater Hotel in South Beach which was in the best location opposite the beach. Had a great time in Miami, I think it would be hard not to enjoy it! Its full of great night life and restaurants and the beach is just gorgeous. Love the style of SOBE, we were in the Art Deco part so bright colours and vespas! The Breakwater Hotel is in a good spot as you just need to cross the road to get to the beach.
Think the highlight of this trip was New York, the people were friendly and we had a great time. It was special for me as it was my first trip to New York I guess, if you haven't been there yet I recommend it.
